welcome to
Capitol Anesthesiology
Were you told Capitol Anesthesiology will be providing your anesthesia? You're in excellent hands. Our physician-led team works directly with your surgery center and surgical team — no separate scheduling needed on your part. Have questions? Call us at (770) 968-9978.
Our Approach
Ambulatory Anesthesia, Done Right
We specialize exclusively in outpatient anesthesia — meaning your procedure is completed at an ambulatory surgery center or outpatient facility, and you return home the same day. Our team includes physician anesthesiologists (MDs) who both personally perform and medically direct cases, supported by a highly credentialed team of CRNAs and CAAs.
Physician-Led Care
Our board-certified anesthesiologists (MDs) oversee every case — whether performing anesthesia personally or medically directing our anesthetist team under the Anesthesia Care Team model.
Anesthesia Care Team
We employ both Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs) — giving us flexible, credentialed staffing to serve a broad range of surgical specialties.
WHO WE ARE
Team Credentials
Physician Anesthesiologists

CRNAs
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists with advanced clinical training in anesthesia delivery across surgical settings.

Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants — a credential pioneered by Emory University and Case Western Reserve. Georgia is a full-practice state for CAAs, and Atlanta has one of the strongest CAA communities in the country.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to contact Capitol Anesthesiology separately to schedule?
No. Our team coordinates directly with your surgery center and surgical team. If Capitol Anesthesiology has been assigned to your case, everything is already arranged — you don't need to call us to book anesthesia separately.
What does "ambulatory outpatient" mean for me?
It means your procedure is performed at an outpatient facility — not a hospital — and you go home the same day. This is typically safer, more convenient, and more cost-effective than inpatient surgery for appropriate candidates.
Who will administer my anesthesia?
A physician anesthesiologist (MD) either personally administers your anesthesia or medically directs a CRNA or CAA on your case. Either way, a physician-led team is responsible for your care throughout your procedure.
What is a CAA and how are they different from a CRNA?
Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs) are master's-level clinicians trained in anesthesia who work under physician supervision. CRNAs are advanced practice nurses with anesthesia specialization. Both are fully credentialed and practice in Georgia, which has a long tradition with the CAA role thanks to programs at Emory University and Case Western Reserve.
How do I prepare for anesthesia?
You will receive specific pre-operative instructions from your surgery center, including fasting guidelines and medication instructions. The American Society of Anesthesiologists also provides a helpful patient preparation guide. If you have specific concerns, call our office directly.
